Katie de Meulles - Metis Cultural Speaker

Join us for an evening of storytelling with Katie de Meulles and learn about her families history in the area, past with the Hudson Bay company and her Metis heritage.

 

Enjoy it with authentic fry bread and local jams!

The Wrecks of Churchill (approx 2.5hrs)

$139.95 + GST August - September

In 1960 the M.V. Ithaca shipwrecked on the Hudson Bay coastline 16kms east of the Town of Churchill after a large storm in Hudson Bay. 

In 1979 Miss Piggy crashed on the rocky coastline of Hudson Bay, just short of the airport after running into engine problems.

Join us on a guided tour to visit both famous wrecks of Churchill and enjoy a low tide coastal hike to get to the Ithaca shipwreck  in Bird Cove.

*The Ithaca requires a coastal hike at low tide.

 

If there's enough time on the way back we will also stop into the Polar Bear holding facility!

Town and Area Tour (approx 3hrs)

$125 + GST February - March : August - Early October

Learn about Churchills history on a driving tour that stops at all the amazing and interesting sites we have! Miss Piggy airplane wreck, see the polar bear holding facility where problem bears are housed for up to 30 days. Walk around the Hudson Bay Companys Cape Merry battery which housed cannons to protect the Fort Prince of Wales during the 1700's and finally out to the Rocket Range where sounding rockets were launched and used to learn about the upper atmosphere.
